rapa nui: Ahu Tongariki: this is the largest Ahu on the island, with the axis of its platform oriented towards the summer solstice rising sun and featuring 15 moai. After it was destroyed and scattered over a wide area as a result of a tidal wave in 1960, it was restored in 1997 with the contribution of a Japanese company, which left a crane for archaeological works. Past the plaza lies an important petroglyph site called Papa Tataku Poki, with tuna fish, turtle, Make Make, and Birdman carvings, among others.
